When Wu-Tang man Ghostface Killah dropped The Pretty Toney Album in April 2004, there was a bunch of street-level mixtapes unavowed out with all the leftovers Def Jam cerebration unworthy. The outtakes hinted at a much tougher, billy Wilder album than Pretty Toney was, and the mixtapes became the hot topic. Lost tracks wish "Insurgent Hood," "The Drummer," "Joseph Smith Brothers," and "Paychecks" got their aboveground sacking in August 2004 when Ghostface presented 718, the first rough from Theodore Unit. A tenuous "resolve crew" to 50 Cent's G-Unit, Theodore Unit includes Cappadonna, Kryme Life, Trife da God (much exactly Trife), Wigs, Du-Lilz, and Solomon Childs on with drawing card and head teacher verse contributor Ghostface. Named after a Brooklyn region code, 718 presented Theodore Unit as a broadly speaking structured grouping with Ghostface and Trife contributory the most. Even if most of Ghostface's tracks weren't recorded with Theodore Unit in thinker, the album hung together nicely and Ghostface had the Pretty Toney-snubbing rap subway organisation back in his quoin.

Blame spread as TV pitches slow to a trickle

By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Ask and you shall
receive, right? Not exactly, at least according to the TV
manufacture bible, summertime 2008 version.

Network executives have complained privately that they
rolled out the red carpet in anticipation of a flood of pitches
following February's village of the Hollywood writers
strike, merely so far all they've seen is a trickle.

"We're open for business, but no one is coming to pitch,"
one network topper says.

Fox, NBC and ABC have indicated that they are permanently
dropping the traditional development cycle in favour of a
year-round one featuring an April "upfront" presentation to
advertisers (NBC), a split development season with pilot pickup
roger Huntington Sessions in May and December (Fox), and three tone arm
"tentpoles" in fall, January-March and summer (ABC).

So summertime should be a busy buying season. Last year, when
the networks had an additional incentive to stockpile in case
of a writers strike, business was brisk. But this summer, when
the networks have the additional motivator of feeding off-cycle
development, it's been languishing.

Don't blame the writers, agents say. It might be "ask and
you shall receive," but it depends how you ask, they argue.

"It's the networks' fault," one agent says. "They brocaded
the prevention a lot this yr; they're just buying prepackaged
stuff."

Indeed, most of the higher-profile projects picked up so
far this summer ar based on existing properties. Others had
talent affiliated.

New Montreal exhibit showcases legacy of designer Yves Saint Laurent

MONTREAL - As the world celebrates the life and work of designer Yves Saint Laurent, anyone venturing into the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will get to see his creations first-hand.

The museum is showcasing a retrospective of the groundbreaking couturier's 40-year career in a show that will run until Sept. 28, and then move to San Francisco.

The exhibit of 148 garments and accessories that sprang from the Parisian fashion icon has an added poignancy given his death Sunday after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

"When we worked on the exhibition, we were working with a living legend," said Diane Charbonneau, one of the exhibit's curators. "Now we're working with a legacy."

The garments in the exhibit are drawn from Saint Laurent's own runway collection. He was meticulous about archiving all his examples, which are maintained by the Fondation Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent and are in mint condition.

Charbonneau, who is also curator of contemporary decorative arts at the museum, says a show highlighting fashion is perfectly at home amid all the paintings and sculptures.

"We're always interested in celebrating creativity in its largest sense," she said. "I think it's just an extension of our interests in various subjects that brought us to fashion."

The show is a thematic look at Saint Laurent's creations since 1962, taking the viewer from the initial sketches of a design, through his use of colour, and showcasing garments influenced by nature and his interest in art and literature.

Saint Laurent was considered to be among the last of the great designers such as Christian Dior and Coco Chanel that put Paris on the fashion map.

"The poetry of each of his creations reflects this man's incredible sensitivity and vast cultural knowledge," said Nathalie Bondil, the museum's director, of Saint Laurent's work. "Every square inch of fabric is compelling."

Saint Laurent appropriated masculine codes of dress and created a modern wardrobe for women that took them out of their traditional roles, she said.

"This was in stark contrast to the practice of depicting women as Barbie dolls designed to sell products."

But for all the glamour in his collection, the attention paid to the needs of everyday women is also highlighted in the exhibit.

Along with the theatrical-appearing gowns with strong multicultural influences are the power suits, elegant evening wear and simple, yet eye-catching dresses and pantsuits that gave a new empowering definition to femininity.

There's also a heavy dose of fun in many of the creations, with their elaborate embroidery or floral motifs.

"He was creating for the privileged women but with his ready-to-wear, he really also designed for every woman," Charbonneau said. "I think what we can tell about Saint Laurent is that he didn't design for an ideal woman.

"He wanted to dress up all women and create happiness for all of them."

The museum is paying tribute to Saint Laurent by letting the public into the show for free on Friday, the day after the funeral.

The designer will also be honoured Wednesday in Montreal with a fashion show where Quebec designers will unveil creations inspired by Saint Laurent.

"He was an innovator," said Denis Gagnon, one of the designers who will be represented in the show, noting that Saint Laurent was the first to use black models. He said Saint Laurent set a standard to be met by all designers.

The museum will also be exhibiting the works created for the tribute show, an organizer of the fashion show said.

Summer 2007 Music Reviews

Name Gourov Dasgupta may not really ring a bell. However, if we mention that he is the same man who was behind tunes like 'Dus', 'Jaaniye', 'Aaja Soniye', 'Nach Le Soniye' and 'O Maahiya' from the film Dus Kahaniyaan, it does get noticed. After a six months wait since the release of Dus Kahaniyaan, composer Gourov Dasgupta is back with his score for Summer 2007. Though the film has taken a little longer to hit the screens (it is 2008 already and the film would be arriving in June this year) and hence in the process has delayed the arrival of the film's music as well, Gourov would be looking forward to his music making a mark yet again. Gourov makes a good start with 'Jaaniye Teri Ankhoke Ye Roshani' which comes with a

Ferrell a huge hit during UCD appearance

Top Hollywood star Will Ferrell last night appeared in University College Dublin to accept a prestigious award in front of 1,500 students.
The 40-year-old star of 'Anchorman' was dressed in the full Irish rugby kit as he accepted the James Joyce Award from the Literary and Historical Society for his outstanding contribution to comedic acting.
Ferrell had a packed O'Reilly Hall in stitches throughout his 40- minute speech where he joked: "As I look out at this crowd, I see the future of Ireland, the future of Europe. And let's face it, the future looks pretty bleak."
The star also spoke about his two-week trip of Ireland with his brother Patrick and father Roylee, whose family hail from Co Longford.
He said: "The trip has been a bit of craic and I'm not talking about talk and laughter, I'm actually talking about crack cocaine."
During his holiday Ferrell travelled to Galway, Mayo, Belfast, Bushmills, Cork, Waterford and Longford. He joked: "The photos are all over Bebo if you need proof."
Ferrell added: "I'm so committed to my Irish roots that I intend to continue wearing this outfit (rugby kit) upon my return to the US. I will also continue to drive on the left-hand side of the road.
"Will it be dangerous? Yes. Is it illegal? Highly. But that's just how committed I am."
His speech also touched on what he believes are his similarities to James Joyce; Westlife and a dig at UCD's rival Trinity College Dublin.
Generating huge applause he said: "The truth of the matter is those guys are going to be working for you."
The star, who commands $20m a movie, joins other public figures honoured by the L&H, including United Nations weapons inspector Hans Blix, academic Noam Chomsky and former South African president FW De Klerk.
Ferrell told the L&H: "I'm truly honoured to be in the same company as previous recipients".

Oprah To Be On 30 Rock?

Keith Powell, who plays Toofer on NBC's much loved comedy 30 Rock, is keeping his fingers crossed that talk show power house Oprah Winfrey will make an appearance next season.

"Thats the rumor," He told OK! at Bravo's A-List Awards. "Last I heard, NBC was really, really trying to make it happen. I dont know if it will happen yet or not."

But fans of the show aren't the only ones excited by the prospect of Oprah's big 30 Rock debut. "There are very few people in the world that if I meet I would hyperventilate over and that would be her," Keith confessed.

With a slew of famous faces having stopped by in the past, we wondered if Ms. Winfrey would play herself or some kooky character. "Shed have to play herself," Keith added, "I think weve talked about her so much shed have play herself and then youd have to watch me loose all bowel movements."

OK! even had a story line on hand for them Oprah should play Keith's love interest. "Ah, please! Write a letter. Ill tell you who to write the letter to Tina Fey. You need to write her and give her that story line!"
